Since leaving office, Carter has remained active in public life. He has worked with The Carter Center, a non-profit organization he founded, to promote peace and democracy around the world.

"The Carter Center, a non-profit organization founded by Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter in 1982, has been involved in a wide range of projects, including election monitoring, conflict resolution, and disease eradication.
