Pete Rose, 84, Dies After Yearlong Battle With Illness

Hall of Famer Pete Rose died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022, from a heart attack. Rose was 84. The family was by his side at the time of his death. He had been in the hospital for several weeks battling a variety of illnesses. Rose's death was confirmed by his family in a statement released through the Cincinnati Reds.

Rose's Accomplishments

Rose is considered one of the greatest baseball players of all time. He played 24 seasons in the major leagues, mostly with the Cincinnati Reds. He is the all-time leader in hits (4,256) and games played (3,562). Rose also won three World Series championships with the Reds (1975, 1976, and 1990).
