The Twelfth Doctor Will Regenerate

Peter Capaldi is leaving Doctor Who. The actor, who has played the Twelfth Doctor since 2013, will regenerate at the end of the upcoming Christmas special. Capaldi's departure was announced by the BBC on January 30, 2017.

In a statement, Capaldi said, "I feel very lucky to have been a part of this amazing show for four years. It's been an incredible journey with some wonderful people, and I'm so proud of what we've achieved together." He added, "I'm excited to see what the future holds for the Doctor, and I wish the new team all the best."

Who Will Replace Peter Capaldi?

The BBC has not yet announced who will replace Capaldi as the Doctor. However, there are a number of actors who have been rumored to be in the running for the role, including: Richard Ayoade, Kris Marshall, and Tilda Swinton.

Whoever takes over the role will be the thirteenth actor to play the Doctor. The character was first introduced in 1963, and has been played by a variety of actors over the years, including William Hartnell, Tom Baker, and David Tennant.
