Republican Chuck Edwards Wins Reelection to U.S. House in North Carolina's 11th Congressional District

Incumbent Republican Chuck Edwards has won reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives in North Carolina's 11th Congressional District.

Edwards defeated Democratic challenger Jasmine Beach-Ferrara by a margin of 54% to 46%, according to unofficial results from the North Carolina State Board of Elections.

Edwards, a former Henderson County commissioner, was first elected to the U.S. House in 2016. He is a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Small Business.

Beach-Ferrara, a former Asheville city councilwoman, was making her first run for Congress. She campaigned on a platform of progressive policies, including Medicare for All and a Green New Deal.

The 11th Congressional District includes all of Henderson, Polk, and Transylvania counties, as well as parts of Buncombe, Haywood, and Madison counties.

Edwards' victory is a setback for Democrats, who were hoping to flip the district blue. The district has been held by Republicans since 2013.

Edwards' victory is also a sign of the strength of the Republican Party in North Carolina. Republicans currently hold a majority of seats in both the state House and Senate, as well as the governor's office.
