Steelers Running Back Najee Harris Out Indefinitely with Lisfranc Injury

Harris suffered the injury in Pittsburgh's Week 12 loss to the Indianapolis Colts

Steelers running back Najee Harris will miss the remainder of the 2022 season with a Lisfranc injury, the team announced Monday.

Harris suffered the injury in Pittsburgh's Week 12 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He underwent an MRI on Monday, which confirmed the diagnosis and likely season-ending injury.

The Lisfranc injury is a sprain or tear of the ligaments that connect the metatarsals (long bones in the foot) to the tarsal bones (ankle bones). The injury is often caused by a forceful twisting or bending of the foot, such as when a player plants their foot and then changes direction quickly.

Harris, who is Pittsburgh's leading rusher this season with 766 yards and six touchdowns, is expected to make a full recovery, but the injury is likely to keep him out of action for several months.

The Steelers will now turn to backup running backs Jaylen Warren and Benny Snell to carry the load in the backfield.

Warren has rushed for 367 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Snell has rushed for 280 yards and two touchdowns.

The Steelers are currently 5-7 and in third place in the AFC North. They will face the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday in a key divisional matchup.
