Meet the Spartans Volleyball Team

The San Jose State University Spartans volleyball team represents San Jose State University in NCAA Division I women's volleyball. The Spartans compete in the Mountain West Conference and play their home matches at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California.

Head Coach

The Spartans are led by head coach Jolene Shepardson, who is in her eighth season at the helm of the program. Shepardson has led the Spartans to three NCAA Tournament appearances and two Mountain West Conference championships.

Outlook for the 2023 Season

The Spartans are looking to build on their success from last season, when they finished 22-9 overall and 12-4 in conference play. The team returns a number of key players from last year's squad, including All-Mountain West selection Anais Arteaga. The Spartans also welcome a talented group of newcomers, including Breana Borgerding, who was a top-100 recruit in the 2023 class.

The Spartans are expected to be one of the top teams in the Mountain West Conference this season. They will be looking to challenge for the conference championship and make a run in the NCAA Tournament.
