Sterling’s screamer hands Man City win as Arsenal held

Sterling’s piledriver seals City win over Wolves

Manchester City came from behind to beat Wolves thanks to Raheem Sterling’s stunning long-range strike. City were made to work hard by their opponents but showed their class in the end to take all three points.

City dominated possession from the start but struggled to create clear-cut chances. Wolves were happy to sit back and defend, and they frustrated the hosts for long periods. However, City eventually found their breakthrough when Kevin De Bruyne’s cross found Sterling on the edge of the area. The England winger took a touch to control the ball before unleashing a magnificent left-footed shot that flew into the top corner.

Wolves responded well to going behind and they levelled just before half-time through Raul Jimenez. The Mexican striker got on the end of a cross from Adama Traore and his header flew past Ederson. However, City regained the lead early in the second half when Aymeric Laporte headed home from a corner. Sterling then sealed the win with a fine individual goal in the 66th minute.

City’s win sees them move top of the Premier League table, level on points with Liverpool. Wolves remain in 10th place.

In other Premier League news, Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by Crystal Palace. The Gunners twice took the lead through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka, but Palace fought back both times to earn a point.

Arsenal are now winless in their last three Premier League games and they have fallen to fifth in the table. Palace remain in 14th place.
