Thailand Accident: Nine killed in Bangkok as car rams into pedestrians

Nine people were killed and 11 others injured when a car rammed into a crowd of people in the Thai capital Bangkok on Thursday.

The incident happened at around 10:10pm local time (15:10 GMT) at a market in the Chatuchak district of the city. According to police, the car was being driven by a 20-year-old man who lost control of the vehicle and mounted the pavement, striking several pedestrians.

The dead and injured were taken to nearby hospitals, where nine people were pronounced dead. The remaining 11 victims are being treated for various injuries, including broken bones and head trauma.
